Team Nelson

AJ Hoggard scored 14 points while Chris Allen and Mark Bradshaw scored 6 points apiece as Team Nelson defeated Team Rebels 30-29 to win the Basketball Spotlight 10U MDC Championship. Darrian Dalcourt scored 8 point for the Rebels in the loss.

AJHoggard Guard – Well it was another outstanding performance from Hoggard. This kid is definitely a money player because when things get tight in big games he takes his play to another level. After leading Team Nelson to their second Spotlight crown the POY award is almost a no brainer. Introducing AJ “McBuckets” Hoggard. He earned an invite to the Baby Baller Super Showcase.

Mark Bradshaw Guard – Bradshaw is an aggressive gaurd that can score. He can finish in transition and can hit the open three. He is a good enough ball handler to get pass defenders off the dribble and he is strong enough to attack the lane.

Kasim Tolliver Guard – Tolliver is a mature basketball player. He’s not flashy or spectacular, he’s reliable and coachable. More of a team runner than a dominant scoring threat, he’ll find his niche.

Team Nelson defeated LVBS 45-33 to win the Middle Atlantic 12U Championship. Congrats to Team Nelson’s staff and players for winning the championship.

Top Performers

Kyson Rawls Guard (Team Nelson)- Rawls has a smooth stroke from beyond the arc and has the ability to go on some good runs. Rawls also has a nice feel for running a team. Rawls has a big time reputation in the Delaware Valley region and he lived up to it.

Iyair Purnell Forward (Team Nelson)- Purnell is a good rebounder on both ends of the floor and plays with a sense of urgency. Iyair is aggressive and can get on a role scoring wise. He has all the tools to be productive player down the road.

Eric Montanez Guard (Team Nelson)- Montanez is a good shooter with range. Montanez is always ready to catch and shoot. He also has the potential to be a good defender.

Team Nelson On The Rise Again?

A few years ago a Team Nelson team became the first and only team to sweep through the Spotlight events (Triple Crown Then). Now they seem to have another young squad ready to go. They did some damage in winning the Baby Baller Bonanza and should be the favorite for the MDC.

Congratulations to Team Nelson’s 10th Grade team for winning the Keystone Blazer tournament on Saturday!

Congratulations to our 4th and 6th grade teams for their victories over the weekend. The 4th grade team won the championship in the Baby Ballers Bonanza in Lakewood, NJ! The 6th grade team won all of their games at the Mid Atlantic Regionals and have advanced to the Final Four Weekend which will be May 14th and 15th!

Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets to see the Magic play in Philadelphia on Monday night! The fundraiser for Team Nelson was a great success and the players had a wonderful time!
